About Namechange.in: 10 Years of Honest Name Change Work

We are the documentation desk that tells you the truth first. In 10 years and more than 10,000 cases, the most valuable thing we have learned is when a gazette is genuinely needed, and when it is not. That honest check is free, and it is where every case with us begins.

Who we are

Namechange.in is a private documentation consultancy based in Burari, Delhi, working across India for 10 years with more than 10,000 name change cases behind us. We prepare affidavits, newspaper notices and gazette files, and we tell you honestly when your case needs no gazette at all. We are not a Government body.

Most name change websites are built to sell you a gazette notification. Ours is built to answer a question first: do you actually need one? A decade in this industry has taught us that a large share of the people who buy a notification never needed it, because a marriage certificate, a decree, or a simple Registrar correction already did the work. Telling you that costs us a sale. We tell you anyway, because that is the only way a documentation desk earns 10 years of repeat clients and referrals.

When your case does need a gazette, the same experience works for you. More than 10,000 files have taught us exactly where applications go wrong: a spelling that differs between the affidavit and the newspaper, an address that does not match Aadhaar, a cutting sent instead of a full page. Every check we run before your file goes out exists because we have seen the rejection it prevents.

10 Years in the Name Change Industry

How a small Delhi desk became the honest answer in a market that avoids the honest question.

Namechange.in name change service near me: gazette, affidavit and newspaper documents around a location pin
The Namechange.in desk in Burari, Delhi, where every file is checked before it goes.

We started 10 years ago doing what every documentation office in Delhi does: affidavits, newspaper notices and gazette files. The work itself is not complicated. What is complicated is everything around it: the fake office addresses copied across websites, the packages priced below the Government fee, the birth certificate corrections sold as gazette jobs, and the customers who reach us after paying twice for something they needed once, or never needed at all.

Somewhere around the first few thousand cases, we noticed the pattern that now defines how we work. The most expensive mistakes in this industry do not happen at the Gazette office. They happen at the first conversation, when nobody asks whether a gazette is needed in the first place. A woman with a registered marriage certificate that shows both her names usually does not need one. A man whose decree records his earlier name usually does not need one. A family fixing a clerk's typo never needed one. So we moved that question to the front of every case, and made the answer free.

Ten years and more than 10,000 cases later, that is still the whole model. We check first. Where no gazette is needed, we say so and point you to the right office, and the conversation costs you nothing. Where one is needed, you get a desk that has assembled this exact file thousands of times, knows precisely why files come back, and reads every entry against your Aadhaar before you sign. The Government fee is shown separately from our charge on every quote, and we tell you plainly, before you pay, what happens if a file is returned.

Namechange.in in Numbers

Ten years of files, measured the way clients actually experience them.

📁

10,000+ cases

Name change files handled across India in 10 years, from plain adult changes to minors, marriages, divorces and Government service records.

📅

10 years

In this industry through every rule change: the digital-only Gazette from 2015, BharatKosh becoming the only fee channel, and the UIDAI SOP of 2021.

🗺️

36 states and UTs

The Central Gazette is filed in Delhi, so we serve every state and Union Territory, plus Indians abroad through consular attestation.

👤

1 advisor per file

The same person handles your case from the first scan to the published PDF, on the same number you first called.

One number we do not publish is a success percentage, because no honest desk controls the Gazette office's calendar or a bank counter's mood. What we control is the file: the spelling checks, the address match, the complete newspaper pages, the photocopy of everything before it goes. Those are the things that decide outcomes, and they are the things 10,000 cases have taught us to get right.

The Rules This Desk Runs On

Ten years in, these are not marketing lines. They are how every file is actually handled.

The honest check comes first

If your case sits in one of the six no-gazette categories, or a certificate you already hold does the work, we say so and point you to the right office. We would rather lose the job than sell you the wrong one.

Two lines on every quote

The Government fee and our service charge, always separate, always before you pay. Any package priced below the Government fee is hiding something, and we explain what.

Nothing prints without your written yes

We send you the exact wording, letter by letter, and wait for your confirmation before the affidavit is typed or a notice is booked. The gazette fee is non-refundable, so this step protects your money.

Your documents stay private

Your scans go to one advisor and one file. We do not resell your details, we do not add you to marketing lists, and we do not share your papers with anyone outside your case.

We say who actually submits

The Department of Publication accepts applications from the applicant directly or by post. No agent can hand your file in, so we never claim to. We prepare and check everything; you sign and send.

A full photocopy before anything goes

Documents submitted to the Department are not returned, so we photocopy the entire file first and keep a scanned set. A lost paper years later is not a fresh problem.

The Facts We Refuse to Get Wrong

This industry runs on copied content and copied mistakes. These are the facts we hold every page and every file to, checked against Government sources.

  • There is exactly one Central Gazette office: the Department of Publication, Civil Lines, behind Delhi Vidhan Sabha Metro Station, Delhi 110054. Any other city quoting that pin code is a copied fake address.
  • Personal notices publish in Part IV of the Gazette of India. Part IV belongs to the Central Gazette only; a State Gazette has its own numbering.
  • The Central fee is paid only through BharatKosh, and it is commonly Rs 1,100 for an adult, revised each financial year and non-refundable. We never present it as a fixed price.
  • A birth certificate mistake is a Registrar correction under Section 15 of the Registration of Births and Deaths Act, 1969, through the issuing municipal body. It is never a gazette job, and we never sell it as one.
  • The Gazette of India has been digital only since 1 October 2015. The free PDF from egazette.gov.in is the official copy, and nobody should charge you to fetch a public record.

How We Work With You

Three steps, and the first one is free.

Send

Call, WhatsApp or fill the form. Tell us your old name, your new name and your state, and send clear scans. We first check whether you need a gazette at all, and we tell you honestly.

Confirm

We confirm the exact spelling with you in writing, then prepare the affidavit, the newspaper notices and the gazette file in the right order, with the Government fee shown separately.

Sign and track

You sign, the file goes to the Department in your name, and we track it to publication. You get the published PDF and a written checklist of which record to update next.

Where We Work

The Central Gazette is filed in Delhi, so your location does not limit you. For a State Gazette we work with the relevant State Government Press.

Questions People Ask About Namechange.in

Straight answers about who we are and how we charge.

Is Namechange.in a Government office?+
No. Namechange.in is a private documentation consultancy. We prepare and check your paperwork for the relevant Government offices and charge a service fee for that work. The Government fee is paid to the Government and shown to you separately.
How long have you been doing this work?+
Ten years in the name change industry, through the Gazette going digital only in 2015, BharatKosh becoming the only fee channel, and the UIDAI SOP of 2021 that defined the six no-gazette categories.
How many cases have you handled?+
More than 10,000 name change cases across India in 10 years: plain adult changes, minors, surname changes after marriage, reversions after divorce, Government employees and Indians abroad.
What do you charge?+
We quote per case, because a plain adult name change and a minor's case with a custody order are different amounts of work. The Government fee is always a separate line on the quote, so you see exactly what reaches the Government. Call 9540003316 for a fixed quote.
Do you submit the gazette application for me?+
No, because nobody can. The Department of Publication accepts applications from the applicant directly or by post. We prepare and check the complete file; you sign and send it in your name.
What if I do not need a gazette at all?+
Then we tell you so, free of charge, and point you to the right office. Six Aadhaar categories need no gazette, and a marriage certificate or decree often does the work on its own. That honest check is where every case with us begins.
Where is your office?+
Burari Metro Station Pillar No. 337, Street No. 1, 1st Shop, Building No. 31/12, Hardev Nagar, Delhi 110084. Open Monday to Saturday, 9 AM to 6 PM. Most clients work with us entirely on WhatsApp and never need to visit.
Do you work outside Delhi?+
Yes, across all 28 states and 8 Union Territories, because the Central Gazette is filed in Delhi regardless of where you live. For State Gazette cases we work with the relevant State Government Press.
Are my documents safe with you?+
Your scans go to one advisor and one file. We do not resell details, we do not add you to marketing lists, and we photocopy the complete file before anything is sent, because the Department does not return submitted documents.
What happens if my file is returned?+
The Government fee is non-refundable, and we say that plainly before you pay. Our job is to make a return unlikely: every entry is read against your Aadhaar, the spelling is confirmed in writing, and the newspaper pages go as complete originals.
Do you handle birth certificate corrections?+
Yes, the correct way: as a Registrar correction under Section 15 of the Registration of Births and Deaths Act, 1969, through the issuing municipal body. It is not a gazette matter, and we never sell it as one.
How do I start?+
Call 9540003316 or send your documents on WhatsApp to 9540005064. Tell us your old name, your new name and your state, and we will tell you the same day what your case actually needs.
